About

I have been fascinated by photography and the mechanics of cameras from a young age. Being a self-taught photographer I have always enjoyed the process of learning new techniques and approaches.

My Photography is creatively artistic and technically proficient, and encompasses many genres that I find interesting and visually appealing. Depending on the subject and the environment, sometimes I take an emergent, evolving approach to my photography - not knowing exactly what kind of photo might emerge - just being there in the moment. In other situations, for example photographing wildlife, I take the photos with high levels of precision and technical accuracy, whilst still maintaining a creatively artistic approach. One of the main reasons I have a strong connection to photography and image making is because, I am a completely visual person and visual thinker. Creating images is a way I explore and express myself.

I have also had a strong affinity and interest in graphic design from a very young age. I enjoy creating graphics which communicate through a visual medium. Through graphic design, I am able to create and communicate complicated or abstract ideas or messages in a way which is easy to interpret. Within graphic design, my main interests are typography and iconography. This is perhaps because, I am fascinated by languages - both spoken and written. I sometimes wonder why there are so many different ways of writing and expressing the same kinds of ideas. The non-Latin scripts particularly interest me, for example the Mayan glyphs or the Chinese logograms. I spend time understanding how a script and each of the characters have evolved. Then I try to work out how this script works - how different character combinations create different meanings. Typography allows me to communicate ideas - from a slightly different angle, just by modifying the appearance of the characters.

Multiculturalism is another area which interests me. This is partly because I have mixed heritage - as evident by my name. Also, I love walking around different places to observe new and different realities. I love languages, clothes and the arts of different cultures and I enjoy working out how these languages work and how the clothes and art works are made.

I love being immersed in nature - tranquil, awakening, alivening and exposed to the raw natural elements - forests, mountains, rivers, lakes - the way animals challenge our perceptions - the vibrancy of the animals - listening to their calls and cries - observing them hunting and wandering around. I have a natural affinity for the natural world.

I am extremely sporty. Perhaps I am good at and I enjoy sport because, I am a visual person and so, I have excellent vision and hand - eye coordination and I am very discerning about minute changes in my visual surroundings. Sport has helped me become an excellent team member.
